Red Sox superstars weigh in on Alex Bregman's free agency: "Where he ends up, I hope it’s with us" image

With a brutal Wild Card series loss to the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox’ superstar Alex Bregman has the option to enter free agency and leave Boston.

Two of his teammates were outspoken against that: Garrett Crochet and Trevor Story. Both hope he comes back, but will wish him luck wherever he ends up.

“Obviously, he was a big boost to the team this year. I think everyone has nothing but positive things to say about him as a teammate. [The contract stuff is] out of my control regardless. Where he ends up, I hope it’s with us. But that’s a guy I’ll root on for the rest of his career,” Crochet said (via Tim Healey).

Story harped on the fact that Bregman is a special player, and his impact on the Red Sox was immeasurable.

“[Getting to know Bregman] was fun, man. It was special. You saw the impact that he had on this organization — on the field, off the field, leadership-wise, all of it,” Story said. “He’s a special player. He’s a special mind. Obviously, very sought-after. He helped us get to where we’re at today. Hopefully, we can keep him for a long time,” Story stated.

Hopefully, the words of Bregman’s teammates get through to him, and they find a way to keep him in Boston for a long time.
