The Boston Red Sox’ superstar ace Garrett Crochet has been everything the team has wanted, as he headlines their amazing starting rotation. Now, he’s even getting consideration for another award, aside from the Cy Young.
In a ranking done by Bleacher Report’s Tim Kelly, Crochet was listed at number four in the AL MVP race, just behind his rival for Cy Young, Tarik Skubal, then Cal Raleigh, and at the top, Aaron Judge.

“Crochet leads the AL in wins, innings pitched and batters faced. He's third or better in K/9, ERA, FIP and WAR, per FanGraphs. He's pushing Tarik Skubal—more on him in a minute—in the AL Cy Young Award race, and whether he wins it or is runner-up, he has been one of the best players in the sport this year,” Kelly wrote.
This year, Crochet has definitely been one of the best players in baseball. He has a 14-5 record, an ERA of 2.40, 214 strikeouts, a WHIP of 1.062, and has pitched 172 innings.
If he does somehow beat Skubal for the Cy Young, his chances for MVP would probably skyrocket. However, with Skubal performing just as well, maybe even a little better, that could be hard. Also, even if he did, he’d still have to beat the two-time reigning MVP in Judge, and the record-breaking catcher in Raleigh.
While he may not get it this year, Crochet has shown he is a top player in the league, and maybe one year in his long contract with the Sox, he’ll get the coveted award.
