Red Sox reveal signings of 2 new pitchers image

The Boston Red Sox unveiled a big list of spring training invites on Friday.

Most of the names were already known as part of Boston's plans, but two of the invites turn out to be free agent signings that weren't announced already.

The two new names: Tayron Guerrero and Seth Martinez.

Both are right-handed pitchers.

Guerrero is 6-foot-8 and 35 years old. He has thrown in 113 MLB games, none since 2019.

Guerrero made his MLB debut with the Padres with just a single game in 2016.

Then in 2018 and 2019, he pitched in 60 and then 52 more games for the Miami Marlins.

Guerrero has 111 strikeouts in 106 career MLB innings.

He spent the 2025 season pitching in Japan for Chiba Lotte.

Guerrero also pitched this winter for Gigantes in the Dominican Winter League, where he had a 0.87 ERA.

Martinez is 6-foot-2 and 31 years old, originally a 17th-round pick of the Oakland Athletics in 2016 out of Arizona State.

He has pitched in 117 games at the MLB level with a career 4.00 ERA.

Martinez appeared in six games for the Marlins in 2025 with a 5.40 ERA.

His previous four MLB seasons had been spent with the Houston Astros, accounting for 111 games and a 3.93 ERA.

Both will be long shots to make the Red Sox, but if they have strong springs, they can put themselves in the picture as depth arms.
