The Boston Red Sox are one of the last teams to not have made a free agency move, and need to correct that ASAP. Luckily for them, there may be an easy move other than re-signing Alex Bregman.

According to Fansided’s Zachary Rotman, the Red Sox will sign Texas Rangers reliever Danny Coulombe, who was an elite pitcher in 2025, although he did go down with shoulder issues multiple times in the last season.

Danny Coulombe is far from a household name, but he's probably the best reliever left on the market. The reliever market has moved very quickly this winter, and given his reliability over the years, particularly as a southpaw, he should have a ton of potential suitors…The Boston Red Sox are a contender that could use a reliever, particularly one who throws left-handed. Yes, they have Aroldis Chapman, but he's typically reserved for the ninth inning. Having a left-hander who can pitch against AL East stars like Gunnar Henderson, Ben Rice, Jonathan Aranda and Addison Barger earlier in a game in a big spot would go a long way. Coulombe would be a great and affordable addition,” Rotman wrote.

This past season, Coulombe posted a 2-1 record, a 2.30 ERA, 43 Ks, and a WHIP of 1.163 over 55 games. He would work well as an end-of-bullpen guy with Garrett Whitlock and Aroldis Chapman, presumably becoming a seventh-inning setup man for Whitlock’s eighth and Chapman’s ninth.

The best part of this is his contract. Coulombe is projected to receive a one-year, $4.3 million deal, which works well for the Sox, who don’t like giving out huge contracts to free agents.

If the Sox can get him soon, having the offseason to work with pitching coach Andrew Bailey would be great for them. Hopefully, they realize this and get on the phone with Coulombe’s camp soon.
