Boston has an overcrowding problem.
The Red Sox simply have too many outfielders.
That lines up an offseason trade looming, and the two names most popular in rumors are Jarren Duran and Wilyer Abreu.
ESPN's Jeff Passan concurs. In an article on Tuesday, he names them as two clear trade candidates:
"The Red Sox almost surely will deal one of them. There aren't enough at-bats in the lineup for both, especially if they add another bat in free agency."

Duran would likely command more in a trade return, but both would be potentially valuable commodities for another team to pick up.
The Red Sox already have Roman Anthony and Ceddanne Rafaela set to hold down outfield spots for years to come and have a number of promising younger players on their way, too.
Abreu got his 2025 season off to an incredible start and also has a great throwing arm, but he cooled down considerably in the second half.
Duran has home run power and the speed combination that he hits plenty of triples, too. He's quite exciting, although for his athleticism, he's not a great defender.
Boston should get real value back for these guys, and it'd be logical for the Red Sox to target pitching in a return. If they get what they're looking for, a deal could get done.
