The Boston Red Sox gained one of the best pitchers in the MLB when they traded for Garrett Crochet, and over this season, he’s been a driving force in their victories. However, there may be a problem in this final stretch for Crochet.
According to Fansided’s Christopher Kline, Crochet’s last few starts might make the Sox start to worry.

“Crochet has a long history of injuries, which has limited his workload in years past. Now he's up to a career high in innings, which can be a hurdle for even the most dynamic pitchers. While Crochet is showing no sign of injury or loss of confidence, his production is faltering down the stretch,” Kline wrote.
It was also noted that Crochet’s ERA has slowly gone up month by month, to a point where it's concerning. From Opening Day to June 1st, he had an ERA of 1.98. Through the midseason of June 7th to July 26, it went up to 2.58. Now, from August 5th to September 2nd, it’s ballooned to 4.38.
With Roman Anthony out with injury until the playoffs, the Sox cannot afford their best player on the other side of the field losing his juice too. They need to make sure his starts are basically confirmed wins for Boston, as they push to make the playoffs.
Hopefully Crochet finds himself, as then the Sox will try to hold on till Anthony’s return. If they can, a deep playoff run isn’t outside the realm of reason.
