Red Sox manager Alex Cora finally gives definitive timeline for Gold Glove Wilyer Abreu's return from injury image

The Boston Red Sox look like they have finally gotten themselves together after a three game skid, notching their second win in a row with a win against the Athletics tonight, 7-0. Now, the team has also got some welcome news regarding one of their superstars returning from injury.

Via Boston Globe’s Tim Healy, Red Sox manager Alex Cora has finally revealed when Gold Glove slugger Wilyer Abreu will return from his hamstring injury. According to Cora, Abreu won’t be back this week for either the Athletics series or the New York Yankees series, but he has a "good chance" to be back by next week.

This season, Abreu is slashing .253/.325/.486/.811 with 16 doubles and 22 home runs. He also provides a great glove in right field, with an OAA of nine, which is tied for MLB best with San Diego Padres’ Fernando Tatis Jr., and is the best in the AL by a long shot.

When Abreu returns, the Sox can breathe a sigh of relief. Their outfield can go back to their 2024 days, with Jarren Duran in left field, Ceddanne Rafaela in center, and Abreu in right. That outfield was one of the best in the MLB, so it probably will be again.

This also helps tremendously while Roman Anthony recovers, as they have the glove and nearly the offensive power he brought.

Hopefully Abreu comes back full strength, as the Sox need him for this final push to the playoffs.
