The Boston Red Sox revealed a horrible injury update on star starting pitcher Lucas Giolito.
Giolito was left off the roster for the Wild Card Series against the New York Yankees with elbow pain, and was hopeful to only miss that series. However, more news has come to light, and now Giolito is predicted to miss the entire postseason.

Sox manager Alex Cora did also share a bit of positive news, saying that Giolito had no true damage, but he still thinks there’s a slim-to-none chance Giolito makes an appearance.
“From everything I am hearing there’s no structural damage, which is great, right? There’s a slim chance he can pitch," manager Alex Cora said before Tuesday night's series opener. “I think from a personal standpoint, those are good news for him, right? Kind of like hard to have surgery going into the offseason, all of that,” Cora said.
Giolito going down is pretty brutal for the Sox. This season, he had a record of 10-4, an ERA of 3.41, 121 Ks, and a WHIP of 1.290 over 145 innings pitched.
The Sox will have to replace his spot in the rotation with either rookie Connelly Early or Kyle Harrison, both of whom have no high-stakes, playoff experience.
Hopefully, Giolito comes back on that slim chance at some point in this postseason, as the Sox truly need his veteran presence on the mound.
