The Boston Red Sox aren't slated to lose anyone too major to free agency.
But they are going to have to replace at least a few guys, or sign a veteran or two back to the squad.
Free agency is just getting underway this week. That's because the season officially ended Saturday night when the Dodgers topped the Blue Jays in Game 7 of the World Series.
MLB released a list of all the new free agents on Sunday.

The Red Sox had four guys on the list:
- Steven Matz
- Justin Wilson
- Rob Refsnyder
- Dustin May
May remains the most intriguing name on the list because of his past prospect pedigree with the Dodgers. But he hasn't been his best self in a while, and whether it's the Red Sox or another team, anyone who acquires May is just hoping he can rediscover some of that past stuff.
Refsnyder has real usefulness to whoever pursues him. He can play multiple decisions, and he's a great right-handed bat against left-handed pitching.

Matz once was a solid southpaw starter, but those days are probably gone. He's mostly a relief option at this point.
And Wilson, a reliever, is the kind of guy who hits free agency every offseason.
Boston has its whole core back after making the playoffs in 2025. If they can make a few subtle moves this winter, the Red Sox will have the chance to put together a potent 2026 season.
