The Boston Red Sox had a few free agent departures this offseason, one of them being their leader and superstar Alex Bregman. However, it doesn’t seem like their relationship is over, but rather it’s just beginning.
Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer predicts that Bregman will re-sign with the Sox, as they’re his ideal landing spot, on a six-year, $150 million contract.
“There are certainly other teams that could use Bregman, including the Detroit Tigers and Chicago Cubs. But given the impact he made both on the field and in the clubhouse, it's hard to fathom him actually leaving the Red Sox. Interest in a reunion should be very much mutual,” Rymer wrote.
This past season, finished slashing.273/.360/.462/.821 with 28 doubles, 18 home runs, and 62 RBI over 114 games played. He also made the All-Star team and proved to be the Sox’ leader in his tenure, inspiring and mentoring Boston’s young roster.

If the Sox could land Bregman on Rymer’s projected contract, it would be a huge win. It would come out to an AAV of $25 million, which is less than their previous superstar third baseman, Rafael Devers. Bregman also provides so much more overall than Devers, making the money worth it.
Hopefully, the Red Sox get an offer to Bregman ASAP, as many contenders would love to acquire his services.
