The Boston Red Sox have lost one of their star outfielders to injury in Wilyer Abreu, but it’s allowed for something good to happen. The Sox are expected to dip into their farm and bring up one of their top prospects.

According to MLB.com’s Ian Browne, the Sox are expected to call up their No. 3 prospect, the Password, outfielder Jhostynxon Garcia.

“Boston is expected to call up Jhostynxon Garcia, their No. 3 prospect and the No. 77 overall per MLB Pipeline, a source told MLB.com's Ian Browne,” the article stated. “The club has not confirmed the news.”

The article continued, revealing Garcia would be playing in the latest rivalry series against the New York Yankees, and all the other moves happening in turn with Garcia’s.

“Garcia is set to join the team in New York for its series against the Yankees, which begins Thursday night. Garcia's promotion will come amid a series of corresponding moves, including Wilyer Abreu landing on the injured list with a right calf injury. Additionally, the club will recall infielder David Hamilton from Triple-A Worcester, designate Abraham Toro for assignment and recall righty Richard Fitts from Worcester. The addition of Fitts comes as the corresponding move to Wednesday's demotion of Isaiah Campbell to Triple-A,” the article revealed.

Garcia has been tearing it up in the minors this season, so this may be good for the Sox. In 66 games in AAA, he’s slashed .303/.367/.564/.932 with 12 doubles, 17 homers, and 56 RBI.

Garcia could be the bat the Sox need to help get some more consistency in their lineup, and who better to debut that type of talent against than the Yankees?

The Sox face the Yankees tonight in New York at 7:15pm EST.
