Red Sox break six-year home attendance drought, against Royals image

The Red Sox are one of baseball's most storied franchises.

They've been around for well over a century and are an iconic franchise.

When Boston won it all in 2018, it was their third title in the last 12 seasons.

Little did they know that a drought would ensue after that title, with just one postseason appearance ahead in the next six seasons.

Morale was low among the fans who had high expectations, as their previously very successful team had entered a new era.

However, after several below-average seasons from the Red Sox, they have seemed to start to put together something special in 2025, with hope on the horizon.

Even for a baseball city that plays at the iconic Fenway Park, attendance has been slightly down in the last few years, compared to what it used to be.

Now that the Red Sox are finally back to being more of a serious competitor in the AL, they were able to finally break a drought that has lasted since 2019.

On Monday, the Red Sox hosted the Royals and had an attendance total of 37,585 (@timbhealey).

The Red Sox haven't met or exceeded a home attendance total of 37,585 since a game against the Phillies on August 20, 2019 (37,712).

It's fairly close to a sellout, as Fenway Park's capacity is around 37,755.

The Red Sox are currently 63-51, putting them second in the AL East and into the Wild Card seeding. They've won eight out of their last ten games played.

The stands should continue to fill up if the Red Sox carry this momentum throughout the last couple of months of the regular season, and potentially into the postseason if they can clinch a playoff spot.
