Roman Anthony is almost certainly the best Red Sox outfielder not named Jarren Duran.

Despite that, Anthony is in Triple-A. Boston fans aren't thrilled by the delay in his call-up.

At this point, Anthony is the consensus No. 1 prospect in all of baseball. He's clearly ready.

Why isn't he up yet?

The Red Sox aren't making room for him. Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu are both good big league players, but they aren't at the potential superstar level of Anthony.

NESN's Lou Merloni summed it up this way on Wednesday: “It's kind of weird that he's down there. He's the best one of the three.”

The popular suggestion is to move Rafaela to second base, where Kristian Campbell has struggled.

Boston hasn't seemed inclined to do that, especially considering Rafaela is a great defensive centerfielder.

But something has to give. It's Anthony's time.

The Red Sox walked-off on a Rafaela home run on Wednesday to improve to 30-34. To have the best chance to make the playoffs, though, they need to bring up the best prospect in the sport.

Anthony could make all the difference, if the Red Sox would simply provide him a spot to play.
