MLB analyst reveals Red Sox' dream trade that they wish they could make right now image

The Boston Red Sox’ pitching staff has been the pride of the team this season, as for a good chunk of the season they were the best in the MLB. However, as the season has progressed, they’ve gotten significantly worse.

This is something they need to address. Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller believes this is probably something they wish they could address right now, as he said trading for a fourth starting pitcher could have solved a lot of their problems.

“Garrett Crochet, Brayan Bello and Lucas Giolito have been stout atop this rotation. Dating back to June 10, they have made a combined total of 50 appearances, going 28-10 with 35 quality starts and a 2.69 ERA—Boston winning 36 of those 50 games. When no one from that trio pitches, though, the Red Sox have gone 14-19 during that window, churning through former Dodgers Walker Buehler and Dustin May before recently pulling out all the stops and rolling with 22-year-old Payton Tolle and 23-year-old Connelly Early, each making their MLB debut within the past three weeks,” Miller wrote.

It seems not going all-in at the trade deadline really cost the Sox this season. They were so close to getting Minnesota Twins’ Joe Ryan, who would have been the definite answer to this problem. However, they would have had to give up Tolle and/or Early to get him, and they’re just too talented to do that.

Overall, the Sox will most likely hold on by the skin of their teeth to the final Wild Card Slot, and make it to the playoffs. However, this “dream trade” will definitely be something they address this offseason.
