In 2024, the Baltimore Orioles were on top of the world. They had a 100-win team, and made it with ease to the playoffs, finally ending their drought. However, one year later, they found themselves at the bottom of the division once again.
This offseason, they need to make sure another drought doesn’t start up. Fansided’s Christopher Kline believes that signing former Cy Young candidate Dylan Cease of the San Diego Padres could be a step in the right direction.

“Dylan Cease followed his standard career arc in 2025, watching his ERA balloon into uncomfortable territory after an incredible 2024 campaign that saw him finish top-five in NL Cy Young voting…He still put up 215 strikeouts and induced plenty of soft contact, so there's no reason to believe the 29-year-old can't return to ace form with a blank slate. And of all the teams hoping to break through next summer, none is more in need of a top-shelf starter than the Baltimore Orioles,” Kline wrote.
This season, Cease finished with a 4.45 ERA and his aforementioned 205 Ks, but just the season before he had a 3.47 ERA with 224 Ks.

Pairing Cease with Trevor Rogers could be a dangerous duo. If the Orioles offense can come back to the limelight as well, they could easily win series right and left.
Hopefully the O’s get in contact with Cease and try and feel him out, as he could be a key to bringing back October baseball to Baltimore.
