The Baltimore Orioles, for the first time since the 2018 offseason, are searching for a new manager. Brandon Hyde's tenure came to an end in 2025 after a 15-28 start to the year. Tony Mansolino took over and went 60-59, and now the manager search is underway.

Baltimore has been linked to Albert Pujols in what would be an interesting but risky hiring. They've yet to interview him or show significant interest, but he's a name to monitor as their search continues.

But, a recent report from Jon Heyman of The New York Post revealed one candidate that the Orioles are eying for their manager role in 2026. The new candidate was a nine-year manager for the Seattle Mariners, and would be an experience option for Baltimore.

Orioles showing interest in Scott Servais as 2026 manager

"Scott Servais is drawing interest from the Twins and Orioles in their managerial searches," Heyman reports.

While the Orioles are linked to the inexperienced Pujols, Servais is a much safer and experienced option. He previously was the Mariners manager from 2016 to 2024 before the current Mariners manager, Dan Wilson, took over.

During his nine years in Seattle, Servais led the Mariners to a 680-642 record, a.514 winning percentage. Seattle routinely finished in the top three for the AL West, though it never won it during his tenure, as the Houston Astros were amid their dominant and controversial playoff run.

Only one time, in 2019, did the Mariners finish in last place with Servais as the manager. He had multiple strong seasons, winning 90 games in 2021 and 2022. During the 2022 playoffs, Servais led the Mariners to a Wild Card series win over the Toronto Blue Jays before getting swept 3-0 by the Astros in the ALDS.

Servais might not be the flashiest hiring, like a Pujols hiring would be, but he's a solid manager who could help bring stability to the Orioles' young core. He's currently with the San Diego Padres as a special assistant for player development, and would be readily available if the Orioles decide to go with Servais as their manager.

Baltimore has the pieces to be a playoff team, but their 2025 season was a rough one. In 2026, the Orioles should be able to bounce back, and Servais is a name to closely monitor as the Orioles search for a new manager continues.
