The Baltimore Orioles have been one of the top spenders this offseason in terms of assets given up, between trade pieces and contracts handed out.
Two starting pitchers, Shane Baz (trade) and Zach Eflin ($10 million deal), have been added to the rotation. But the Orioles might not be done.
According to ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan, the Orioles adding another starting pitcher this winter from the top-end of the market is "a real possibility" for Mike Elias and company.
Orioles have a 'real possibility' of adding frontline starter
"I think it's a real possibility," Passan writes. "... Add Framber Valdez or Ranger Suarez -- or use some of their young bats to trade for that higher-end type of arm -- and it's an even more transformative winter."
Baltimore continuing to add to the starting rotation would be ideal. While it's a much better rotation than where it was when the offseason began, more help makes a lot of sense.
Kyle Bradish, Trevor Rogers, Baz, Dean Kramer, and Tyler Wells, along with Eflin, Cade Povich, and depth pitchers Albert Suarez and Brandon Young, are a solid rotation.
But, the Orioles could instead look to consolidate their depth into a better frontline starter, or just sign a top starter in free agency this winter.
There are still a ton of interesting names to monitor. Framber Valdez and Ranger Suarez are the top options, and Tatsuya Imai could be an interesting addition as well.

In the trade market, Edward Cabrera, Sandy Alcantara, and MacKenzie Gore are great options for the Orioles to consider trading for.
This report from Passan doesn't imply that the Orioles are indeed making another big move this winter, but that such an outcome cannot be ruled out, and is well within the realm of possibility.
For a once-stingy team, this report is a good sign that the Orioles are willing to spend for the right player.
While a specific target isn't known, they've been linked to Valdez, Gore, and Suarez before this winter. Any of those would be amazing additions to this already much-improved rotation for the 2026 season.
