The Atlanta Braves added some strong-pedigree pitching depth on the cheap on Wednesday.
They swung a trade with the Colorado Rockies for left-handed pitcher Ryan Rolison.
In return to the Rockies goes cash considerations, in a move that was announced by both teams.
Colorado had designated Rolison for assignment a day earlier to remove him from their 40-man roster, and the Braves are taking a chance on him.
The lefty was originally a 2018 first-round pick, 22nd overall to the Rockies.
He battled shoulder problems for basically his entire rise through the minor leagues.

Rolison made it to the majors in 2025 and threw 42.1 innings. He had a 7.02 ERA.
He was much better in Triple-A in 2025 with a 3.34 ERA and a 25.2% strikeout rate.
It's a nice buy low opportunity for Atlanta. The 6-foot-2 Rolison is 28 years old, and the Braves may believe they can still unlock part of his game.
He's originally from Jackson, Tennessee and attended Ole Miss, so this is an arm from SEC country now returning to SEC country.
It didn't cost Atlanta much, and there's pretty much no harm if it doesn't work out, but maybe Rolison will end up being a useful southpaw for the Braves.
