The Arizona Diamondbacks, at least as the trade rumors tell it, seem likely to trade Ketel Marte this offseason.
If that's going to happen, then, it's up to the Diamondbacks to figure out what they want in a return.
There are different paths to be taken here. Is it about a haul of prospects? Is it about MLB help at a different position?
One trade, suggested by ESPN's Paul Hembekides, checks both of those boxes.
He proposes that the Diamondbacks trade Marte to the Boston Red Sox for Jarren Duran and Kyson Witherspoon.

Duran is an extra-base machine as an outfielder at the MLB level. Witherspoon is a newly drafted and promising pitching prospect.
"Roman Anthony's 2025 breakout rendered Duran expendable in an outfield already staffed by Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu, both of whom offer more remaining team control," Hembekides writes. "And with presumed second-baseman-of-the-future Kristian Campbell struggling as a rookie (86 OPS+, -1.0 WAR), the door swung open for a move of this magnitude. Duran's proclivity for doubles and triples will play beautifully in Arizona (just ask Corbin Carroll), and Witherspoon, the No. 15 pick in the 2025 MLB draft, instantly becomes the club's best pitching prospect."

Witherspoon was thought by some to be the best pitcher in the draft, so his slide to the 15th pick and Boston was notable even at the time.
This feels like a big package for the Red Sox to give up, but Marte does fit their current roster construction much better than Duran does.
The Diamondbacks would feel like winners in this trade, for sure, so if it's presented to Arizona, it's something they probably should pull the trigger on.
