The Arizona Diamondbacks have made very few offseason moves, adding starting pitching, but not much else. Arizona signed Merrill Kelly after trading him away last season and reached an agreement with Michael Soroka to fill another spot in the rotation.

They were rumored to be shopping three-time all-star Ketel Marte, but have since decided against the idea.

Earlier Saturday, they traded away former 39th overall pick Jake McCarthy to the Colorado Rockies.

With the lack of a true designated hitter on the roster, Arizona is rumored to be after a slugger.

Arizona has been linked to a few veteran options including Marcell Ozuna, Eugenio Suarez, Ryan Mountcastle, Rhys Hoskins and a reunion with longtime Diamondback Paul Goldschmidt.

With first base also a position of need, the Diamondbacks could sign more than one of the aforementioned group.

While Suarez clubbed nearly 50 home runs in 2025, his price tag may be too high to outbid other pursuers.

That said, Marcell Ozuna offers an interesting option. Although Ozuna cannot play in the field at all, he's excelled as a designated hitter in recent seasons for the Atlanta Braves.

Over the last three seasons, Ozuna has hit 100 home runs, including 40 in 2023. Although last year was a bit of a down year, Ozuna still hit 21 home runs and drove in 68 runs. In 2023 and 2024, Ozuna reached 100 or more RBIs. Not to mention, he led the National League in home runs and RBIs in the shortened 2020 season.

If available for a discount, the former two-time Silver Slugger could make for a great addition in the middle of Arizona's lineup.
