The Arizona Diamondbacks already traded away a couple of talented veteran hitters in July when they sent Eugenio Suarez and Josh Naylor to the Seattle Mariners.
They may not be done making moves, as Ketel Marte is the latest bat involved in rumors.
Marte is viewed as a popular trade candidate this offseason, and ESPN's Jeff Passan and Kiley McDaniel have ranked him as the No. 2 possible trade chip in the entire league, behind just Tarik Skubal.
The ESPN duo gives Marte a 40% chance of being traded this offseason.

They also list seven teams that could end up with Marte:
- Pirates
- Giants
- Phillies
- Mariners
- Royals
- Athletics
- Mets
"Teams believe they'll have a better sense after the winter meetings of the Diamondbacks' seriousness about moving the best second baseman in baseball," write ESPN's Passan and McDaniel. "Marte has a very reasonable five years and $91 million (plus a sixth-year player option at $11.5 million) remaining on his contract, which means Arizona would want a whale of a return."

By advanced metrics, Marte has been a top-20 hitter in baseball over the past handful of years.
He's 32 now, and the question for any acquiring team is whether that production will continue. If it does, he's worth his cost. If a decline comes, it could work out to be a negative trade.
But it certainly seems like the Diamondbacks will entertain the idea of moving him, if they get the offer they want.
