Boerne has played its way back to the Class 5A Division II state semifinals at 13–1, answering a season-opening loss to Pieper with 10 straight wins behind a balanced offense and steady defense that carried the Greyhounds through a rugged district slate. In the playoffs, they have taken another step, posting four straight wins over Ray, Pioneer, Gregory-Portland, and Alamo Heights by a combined 178–86, capped by a 56–49 quarterfinal thriller over Alamo Heights, sealed with a late touchdown.

Boerne now faces defending champion Randle in a Class 5A Division II state semifinal Friday at 7 p.m. At the Alamodome, a rematch of last year’s showdown with a spot in the state title game on the line. The Greyhounds will lean on their efficient passing game, balanced run support and late-game poise to try to keep pace with a Randle offense that routinely pushes past 50 points.
