Gruver’s regional games were tougher, but the Greyhounds answered every challenge. They outlasted Ropes 23-13 in the regional semifinals, then flipped the script on district rival Stratford with a 19-14 win in the Region I final after losing to the Elks in October. Muenster has backed up its defending state championship with another dominant postseason run, blasting Cross Plains 77-6 in bi-district before overwhelming Wellington 63-21 in the area round and clamping down on Albany 28-7 in the regional semifinals. The Hornets then completed a season sweep of district rival Lindsay with a 28-14 quarterfinal win, riding a balanced offense and physical defense into a Class 2A Division I state semifinal rematch with Gruver.
