THOMASVILLE, Georgia, Dec. 11 — The No. 27 Thomas County Central [Thomasville, GA] Yellow Jackets will take on the SN NEXT No. 12 Roswell [GA] Hornets Thursday night in one of Georgia's two GHSA Class 5A state semifinal matchups.
Thomas County Central has spent much of the year in AllSportsPeople Composite Rankings, and they are currently ranked in the Massey Ratings and the SI Power 25. The Yellow Jackets are ranked as high as No. 12 in the country by Massey.
Roswell, meanwhile, is No. 12 in The SN NEXT 25 "bubble rankings.
The Yellow Jackets enter the contested with an unblemished 13-0 record while Roswell's only loss is to the nation's current top-ranked team – the No. 1/SN No. 1 Buford [GA] Wolves. Granted, it wasn't a pretty – a 65-21 blowout on September 5 – but Roswell has won 10 straight games since then, including a 37-35 win over the Gainesville [GA] Red Elephants on October 24. Gainesville will play the Rome [GA] Wolves Thursday night in Georgia's other Class 5A semifinal.
Both games are set for a 7:30 p.m. EST local kick.
