NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana, Dec. 11 — The Robbinsville [NC] Black Knights will take on the Wilson [NC] Prep Academy Tigers Thursday afternoon in North Carolina's NCHSAA Class 1A state championship game.
Robbinsville enters the game with a 10-3 record, but all of the Black Knights' losses have come to higher-ranked teams in the Tar Heel State's prep ranks. They'll be in a similar situation Thursday against a Wilson Prep squad that is only 8-5 but enters the game as moderate favorites.
Wilson Prep's season is one of the great stories in North Carolina's postseason as the Tigers started the season 0-4 before winning their first game and then falling to 1-5 heading into October. Since then, they've rolled off seven straight wins, including three in the playoffs.
The game is set for a 4 p.m. At Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
