One of the legendary high school football programs in the state of Oklahoma can achieve a record on Saturday.

Midwest City Carl Albert can continue its recent dynasty, add another victory to its long winning streak and also become the first 11-man team in state history to win 20 state championships as the Titans get set to face Oklahoma City Bishop McGuinness in the Class 5A title game. It takes place Saturday afternoon at Chad Richison Stadium in Edmond.

Carl Albert (13-0) is one of three teams to win 19 state titles, joining Jenks and Ada. The Titans have won three straight 5A championships, and eight over the past nine seasons.

They also come into Saturday’s game riding a current 52-game winning streak, the second-longest such streak in state 11-man history, which started early in the 2022 season. Only Bixby has had a longer winning streak, claiming 58 straight wins from 2018-22.

Bishop McGuinness is seeking to win its first title since claiming back-to-back 4A crowns in 2006-07. The Fighting Irish (12-1) suffered its lone loss in the regular-season finale to Lawton MacArthur, but paid back MacArthur in a semifinal rematch last week, prevailing 61-28.
