TL;DR

  • Louisiana high school football playoffs quarterfinal round is scheduled for this week.
  • Top seeds in top two divisions advanced, facing No. 8 seeds in Friday's quarterfinals.
  • Key matchups include Edna Karr vs. Evangel and Ruston vs. Southside.
  • Playoff games are broadcast on NFHS Network or locally, with free streaming on Fubo.

The quarterfinal round of the Louisiana high school state playoffs typically occurs around Black Friday.

The third round of the playoffs, also referred to as the quarterfinals, is scheduled for this week, as teams advance on their journey to the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, where the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s Prep Classic will be held.

All top seeds in the top two divisions each won in last week's second round. Those teams will face the No. 8 seeds in Friday's quarterfinal round.

A compelling matchup to observe will be the Division I Select quarterfinal featuring top-ranked Edna Karr against the eighth-seeded Evangel. Edna Karr is expected to defend their state championship title, but the Eagles, guided by Class of 2027 quarterback Peyton Houston, an LSU commit, present a formidable challenge to the Cougars this week.

Ruston, the top seed in Division I Non-Select, faces No. 8 Southside, coached by Jess Curtis, a former state champion at Many. North DeSoto, the top seed in Division II Non-Select, will play No. 8 Franklinton, last year's state finalist. In Division II Select, E.D. White, the defending state runner-up and No. 8 seed, will visit the top-seeded St. Charles Catholic.

Each week, we'll update the brackets for Louisiana's top two divisions as the playoffs commence.
