The Flyin' to the Hoop Basketball Invitational is scheduled to get under way Friday evening in Dayton, Ohio, with a mix of local and national programs competing in 18 games over a span of four days.
Three teams currently ranked in AllSportsPeople High School Boys Basketball Top 25 will make an appearance at the event, including the No. 10 SPIRE Academy [Geneva, OH], No. 12 Dream City Christian National [Glendale, AZ] Eagles, and No. 13 Wasatch Academy [Mt. Pleasant, UT] Tigers. The event will tip off in style at 6:30 p.m. EST Friday with Dream City and Wasatch Academy facing off while SPIRE Academy is slated to take on the Reynoldsburg [OH] Raiders in the nightcap at 8:15 p.m. EST.
The event will continue through Monday, January 19, featuring 18 games in that span, including many top squads from the Buckeye State. Additionally, teams from Arizona, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Massachusetts, North Carolina, and Utah will be on hand to test their mettle against some of the nation's best teams and individual players.
The top storyline is the continued emergence of SPIRE Academy on the national scene. The Ohio squad enters the weekend undefeated, and after playing in Dayton Friday night, they'll head to Springfield, Massachusetts, where they'll compete in the weekend's premier high school boys basketball event. At the Panini Hoophall Classic, they'll play the Sunrise Christian Academy [Bel Aire, KS] Buffaloes on Sunday before getting a crack at the No. 2 Brewster Academy [Wolfeboro, NH] Bobcats on Monday.
All 18 games will be available via live webcast through SUVtv.com.
