Basha and Chandler met Saturday night in Arizona's Open Division state championship game.

TEMPE, Ariz, Dec. 6 —  The No. 41 Basha [Chandler, AZ] Bears started slow but finished fast in a 34-7 rout of the Chandler [AZ] Wolves Saturday night in Arizona's Open Division state championship played at Arizona State University.

Basha and Chandler did not meet in the regular season despite being neighbors in Chandler, Arizona, which has been the epicenter of Arizona's prep football ranks this season. Three of the four teams in last week's semifinals, including the Hamilton Huskies, are based in Chandler.

But the two squads got their chance to meet in the title contest, and after a defensive first quarter in which Basha led just 7-0, the Bears got rolling and eventually stretched their lead to 17-0 headed into the half.

After tacking on another field goal to start the scoring in the second half, Chandler finally got on the board to trim Basha's lead to 20-7. But that was all the Wolves could muster on a night when the Bears' defense was unforgiving, and ultimately, it was Basha's night in what has been Basha's season in Arizona.

Basha concludes the 2025 campaign with a 12-1 record while Chandler falls to 10-3 with the loss
