St. Ignatius College Prep will meet Ventura Friday evening in California's CIF Division 3-AA state championship bowl game.

FULLERTON, California, Dec. 12 —  The St. Ignatius College Prep [San Francisco, CA] Wildcats outlasted the Ventura [CA] Cougars, 42-35, Friday night in California's CIF Division 3-AA state championship bowl game at Buena Park High School.

SICP finished the season with a 9-6 record while Ventura's season ended at 13-3.

The game was a seesaw affair in the first half with four lead changes after SICP got the scoring started. After leading 7-0, the Wildcats gave up two touchdowns to fall behind, 14-7, before scoring two touchdowns of their own to regain the lead, 20-14. Ventura then went back up 21-20 before SICP finally took a 28-21 advantage to the halftime.

They would never trail again after scoring the first touchdown of the second half to go up, 35-21, and holding off a late Ventura attempt to rally.
