The Avon High School Eagles are on top of the Ohio mountaintop for a second year in a row.
A season after winning their first football state title, Avon doubled down with a 37-20 win over Anderson on Thursday night to claim the OHSAA Division II state title.
In the process, Avon made D-II history.
The last public school to repeat in Division II in Ohio was back in 1992-93, when St. Marys Memorial did the trick.

Avon did it in large part thanks to quarterback Blake Elder.
In the first half alone, Elder threw four touchdowns. That tied the Division II state final record for an entire game.
In less than a half, @avoneagles QB @blake_elder has already tied the @OHSAASports Division II championship record for TD passes in a game (4). Shane Hamm (Hoban) and Neal Seaman (Louisville) also have accomplished that.

It's been an amazing fall for Avon.
The boys soccer team won the state title. The girls volleyball team won state.
And now the football Eagles have completed the party.
