After Wagner of San Antonio debuted at 20th last week, another unbeaten Texas UIL stronghold has cracked SN's national girls basketball top 25. This time it's Austin Westlake, which, like Wagner, came in hot after starting outside our bubble just a few weeks go.
Here are AllSportsPeople national high school girls basketball rankings for the week of Dec. 8.

Top 25 High School Girls Basketball Rankings
1. Archbishop Mitty (CA) (4-0 – 1st last week)
Down in San Diego for the La Jolla Country Day Sweet 16 Tournament, the Monarchs cooked even with McKenna Woliczko's return still around the corner. They blew out Lincoln (San Diego), cruised past reigning CIF-SDS Open Division finalists Francis Parker team, and sealed the title with a 30-point rout of reigning CIF-SS D1 champion Rancho Christian.
I’m grateful for the support regarding my ACL & meniscus. My recovery remains fluid and I continue to celebrate my achievements along the way. We are hopeful that the beginning of the calendar year will bring new opportunities. Go Monarchs!

2. Ontario Christian (CA) (9-0 – 2nd)
Ontario Christian's start to the 2025-26 season has been nothing short of sensational. While preseason No. 1 Archbishop Mitty's place in the rankings is a bit complicated with its best player currently yet to debut this season, the Knights have put together a nine-game start so dominant that they're an imminent threat to move to the top spot. Last week they decimated four of California's top teams to win Redondo Union's Battle at the Beach, beating Oak Park 106-39, Moreno Valley 89-43, Fairmont Prep 88-41, and JSerra 86-58.
3. Long Island Lutheran (NY) (2-0 – 4th)
As good as advertised through just two games. The Crusaders opened up by beating Virginia Beach Catholic 79-36 and Archbishop Carroll (PA) 73-49. Next week is massive for them with showcase games against Bishop McNamara and St. John's.
4. IMG Academy (FL) (7-0 – 5th)
The Ascenders haven't dominated every game they've played by any stretch, but they're seven for seven at pulling out the dub against formidable competition. Last week they outlasted Central Pointe Christian Academy National 59-56 and Cresset Christian Academy 44-34.
5. Westtown (PA) (3-0 – 6th)
With the exception of the Nike TOC – which is practically the biggest exception possible – Westtown won't have a ton of chances to justify its lofty ranking this season. So coming out of the gate with a 61-52 win over The St. James Performance Academy was monumental.
6. DME Academy (FL) (9-0 – 7th)
DME blew out in-state foes Cardinal Mooney and Balboa to stay unbeaten. It'll be the heavy favorite in its only game of this week as well facing Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy.
7. Legion Prep (TX) (3-1 – 8th)
The Bulldogs are in the midst of a busy stretch against staunch Canadian competition in J. Addison, Fort Erie International, and Crestwood Prep.
8. Etiwanda (CA) (5-0 – 9th)
It was a week off for the Eagles, who pick back up on Saturday against one of Nevada's top programs: Democracy Prep (Agassi Campus).
9. SPIRE Academy (OH) (2-0 – 11th)
New-look SPIRE debuted with a 84-46 rout of Springdale Prep and 75-56 win against Academy of Notre Dame de Namur.
10. Bishop McNamara (MD) (1-0 – 12th)
Bishop McNamara kicked off the season with a tough victory. It won 65-57 against a nationally ranked Friends Central team that was already 3-0. This week could be the week that makes or breaks a national title hunt as the Mustangs face Long Island Lutheran, St. Frances Academy, Bishop Gorman, and Albertus Magnus.
11. The St. James Performance Academy (VA) (2-2 – 9th)
Another nine-point loss to a top-10 team accompanied by another big win. This time, the Risers lost 61-52 to Westtown and followed it up with a 66-58 victory over bubble team Friends Central.
12. Princess Anne (VA) (3-0 – 13th)
2025-26 looks quite a bit like 2024-25 so far for the Cavaliers. They tipped off last week with annihilations of Bayside, Kempsville, and Manchester.
13. Corona Centennial (CA) (0-0 – 14th)
Centennial is one of a few ranked teams yet to tip off. That won't change until right after Christmas when the CIF transfer sit-out period ends.
14. Johnston (IA) (4-0 – 15th)
Four games, four lopsided wins against Cedar Falls, Southeast Polk, Waukee, and Edgewood.
15. Mater Dei (CA) (6-0 – 16th)
Mater Dei took care of West (Torrance) 62-47 in its only game of the week.
16. Sierra Canyon (CA) (5-1 – 4th)
Jerzy Robinson is yet to debut, and even still the Trailblazers have already recorded five impressive wins – in addition to a 67-63 loss to Trinity League power JSerra. With Robinson yet to return, Sierra Canyon does see its stock dip considerably, but this loss will probably be a mere footnote on 2025-26 assuming she comes back soon and Sierra Canyon puts together a powerhouse season. The fact that the Trailblazers won by roughly 20 points against fellow CIF-SS Open Division selections Fairmont Prep (twice) and Sage Hill is actually very encouraging for them.
17. Tualatin (0-0 – 17th)
The Timberwolves get going this week with contests against West Salem and Crater.
18. St. John's (DC) (4-0 – 18th)
It's been a powerhouse start for the Cadets, who backed up their one-point Bullis win with double-digit victories over Potomac, Archbishop Carroll (PA), and Archbishop Wood.
19. Bullis (MD) (1-1 – 19th)
After a bye week to contemplate the St. John's loss, Bullis dives back in against elite competition: Bishop Ireton, St. Francis (GA), and IMG Academy.
20. Wagner (TX) (14-0 – 20th)
It might be a while before the Thunderbirds are tested again after beating all their regular season's top-ranked opponents in the opening month. They're already on watch for an undefeated season.
21. Westlake (TX) (17-0 – Bubble)
The Chaparral's undefeated bid continued last week with a 6-0 slate, including an incredible five wins in three days headlined by a win over Argyle. UIL 6A Region IV District 26 is particularly loaded this year, but Westlake enters as the heavy favorite in any game it plays until proven otherwise.
22. Sidwell Friends (DC) (1-0 – 22nd)
The first three quarters were tight, but Talen Watson's Quakers dominated the fourth to beat Virginia Beach Catholic 77-58 and open the post-Tamika Dudley era in style.
23. Arrowhead (WI) (3-0 – 23rd)
Sandwiched in between two blowout wins was a less lopsided one that couldn't have been much bigger for the Warhawks. They defeated Muskego 65-54 after Muskego took two out of three games against them last year, including a 56-44 Muskego win in the state semifinals.
24. Belleville (MI) (0-0 – 24th)
Michigan's reigning Division 1 state champion tips off on Saturday.
25. Montverde Academy (FL) (3-1 – 25th)
MVA was on upset watch again on Friday before pulling out 56-49 win against Cresset Christian Academy. Then the Eagles rolled to a 59-34 victory over reigning Florida champion Cardinal Mooney.
