Who will win the U.S. Open 2019? Odds, betting favorites, sleeper picks, Tiger Woods prop bets image

One of golf's most historic and iconic courses — Pebble Beach — celebrates its 100th season this year and serves as the venue for the 2019 U.S. Open, golf's third major of the year.

This will be Pebble Beach's sixth time hosting the U.S. Open and first since 2010 when Graeme McDowell won. It'll be a packed field with 156 golfers teeing off on Thursday, all tasked with dethroning Brooks Koepka from his perch.

Koepka is looking to become just the second player to ever win three consecutive U.S. Open tournaments and first since Willie Anderson from 1903-1905. Koepka won the season's second major — the PGA Championship — at Bethpage Black back in May.

The year's other major of course belongs to Tiger Woods. Since winning the Masters, Woods has played in two events. He missed the cut at the PGA Championship, but put together a strong fourth round last week at the Memorial Tournament to finish tied for ninth.

Who will win the U.S. Open 2019?

The all-too-obvious answer here is Brooks Koepka. No one comes close to rivaling the last year and a half that Koepka has strung together. Koepka has won three majors since the start of 2018, and by winning the PGA Championship in May, he became the first golfer to hold back-to-back titles in two majors simultaneously.

A win at Pebble Beach would be his third straight U.S. Open win.

U.S. Open 2019 betting odds

Brooks Koepka enters the tournament as the betting favorite. Dustin Johnson is a close second after finishing second in this year's PGA Championship and tied for runner-up at the Masters. He's the most recent U.S. Open winner not named Koepka. Rory McIlroy saw his odds improve to third-best on the board after winning last week's Memorial Tournament.

For more in-depth analysis, Sporting News contributor Bennett Bedford broke down all of the gambling angles to this year's U.S. Open tournament.

U.S. Open sleeper picks

According to Bennett, Jason Day, Matt Kuchar and Patrick Reed are some of the best values at this year's event. If you need a guy to root for, Phil Mickelson is still looking for a U.S. Open win after finishing runner-up six times.

List of U.S. Open winners by year

While Brooks Koepka has dominated the last couple of years, he's still two wins short of tying for the most U.S. Open wins. Willie Anderson, Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan and Jack Nicklaus all hold the record with four wins. No golfer over 45 years old has ever won. Hale Irwin was the oldest to do so at the age of 45 years and 15 days in 1990.

Standing at three career U.S. Open wins, Tiger Woods will look to add one more to his total and tie the other golfers for the record. Three wins is the fewest of the majors for Woods.
