TL;DR
- Bucky Irving is expected to return to practice, potentially playing in Week 13.
- Sean Tucker and Rachaad White are also healthy, creating a crowded backfield.
- Fantasy managers face difficult decisions with three healthy Buccaneers running backs.
- It is advisable to avoid starting any Buccaneers running backs in Week 13.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' running back depth chart is about to get more crowded.
This week, Bucky Irving is expected to fully rejoin practice as he recovers from his injury, aiming to play in Week 13 on Sunday. Sean Tucker and Rachaad White are also healthy.
This could get tricky for fantasy football managers.
Irving was the player anticipated as an early-round selection in fantasy drafts entering the season. He had a standout performance in 2024 and appeared poised to deliver a similar level of play in 2025.
However, after Irving's injury, the running back situation became more fluid. White was the first to get an opportunity, and he was the most logical choice for a waiver pickup due to his prior experience as a starter.
Tucker started to get picked up, too, as he took more action away from White.
During Week 11, Tucker scored three touchdowns versus the Buffalo Bills, and he handled more carries on Sunday night even as the Bucs suffered a significant loss to the Rams.
An Irving return changes things greatly.
It's anticipated that Irving will ultimately resume his role as the primary running back. However, the question remains whether this will occur immediately.
Starting Irving, Tucker, or White in Week 13 would be challenging. If all three are healthy and the Buccaneers remain unsettled, it's not a favorable situation.
Baker Mayfield's left shoulder injury could also be detrimental, though that remains uncertain.
Currently, the situation is complex. Avoid dropping any Buccaneers running backs for the time being. However, it's likely best not to plan on starting any of them this week.
