Is Rashee Rice playing in fantasy Week 7? Chiefs WR suspension ends image

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has served his six-game suspension. Rice, who was suspended for his involvement in a multiple-vehicle crash in March of 2024, is now eligible to return.

For fantasy football, this is a highly anticipated return. Before Rice got hurt last season, he was the WR2 overall through the first three weeks:

Rice was averaging 21.6 fantasy points per game, attached to the best quarterback in football. This sort of production is expected again, but the question is, will it?

The wait for Rice's 2025 debut is over, as he has fully served his suspension. Rice will be eligible to play in Week 7 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

There is no question that he's in your lineup, especially if you've held him since the beginning of the season.

I personally roster Rice in both of my competitive leagues, and he will be in both lineups with full confidence.

Rashee Rice 2025 Fantasy Rest of Season Outlook

Although the sample size from last year is small, that sort of production is what I expect from Rice. While Xavier Worthy has improved significantly, Travis Kelce has declined substantially.

In his three games last season, Rice was targeted 29 times by Mahomes, which was tied for the 3rd most. Rice should be used at this same rate, if not more.

Despite missing the first six games, I still have Rice finishing as the WR14 overall. This makes him a true league winner down the stretch of the fantasy season.

How Rashee Rice's return affects Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes, Xavier Worthy, Travis Kelce

In the last three weeks, Worthy has been the WR21 overall, and I don't think Rice coming back should impact that too much. While Worthy won't be the premier target for Mahomes anymore, he and Rice have different roles in this offense.

Kelce is the TE5 overall heading into Week 7, but this does not feel like it's going to hold up.

For reference, when Rice was playing last season, Kelce was the TE22 overall. In this span, Kelce was targeted just 12 times combined.

It's easy to say that Rice coming back will only help Mahomes, which, in the grand scheme of things, it will.

However, for fantasy, it might actually hurt the rushing production. Mahomes has rushed for the third-most yards among QBs through six weeks.

With Rice hopefully providing another open target, maybe Mahomes doesn't need to rush as much. Fantasy players with Mahomes on roster might miss those extra points, though.
