More and more fantasy football leagues are ditching place kickers as a required position, instead opting to focus on more flex players in starting lineups.

However, for those still using PK spots, learning the best strategies for drafting the position -- if you need to at all -- will set the rest of your plan in place.

We'll explain when it's best to do that below as we rank the top 30 place kickers for fantasy football drafts.

Fantasy Football kicker rankings: Best PKs for 2025 drafts

The knee-jerk instinct is to draft boots from top offenses, but while this could serve as a simple foundation, it's not a perfect reflection of fantasy kicker trends.

The top kicker last year and the No. 1-ranked name this year makes his living cleaning up a flawed offense.

Here's Tier 1 among fantasy place kickers:

  • Brandon Aubrey, Dallas Cowboys
  • Jake Bates, Detroit Lions
  • Cameron Dicker, Los Angeles Chargers
  • Will Lutz, Denver Broncos
  • Kai'mi Fairbairn, Houston Texans

All of these names have a mix of or check all of the boxes PK drafters should consider:

Favor PKs in domes, retractable stadiums, or favorable weather climates

Domes, warm weather, and high-elevation outdoor stadiums all could help place kickers.

If you must draft a kicker for the long term, consider that top names who play for teams whose home stadium resides in typically cold, precipation-heavy winters could be risky plays during the fantasy playoffs.

It's best to take advantage of these team-aided kickers as early as possible during the fantasy calendar.

As for week-to-week kicker analysis, wind much more directly impacts performance than light-to-moderate precipitation -- unless it's a blizzard, of course.

Kickers can thrive in weak or flawed offenses

A lot of the best offenses too often leave their kickers in place to mostly kick extra points instead of field goals.

Kickers could thrive in offenses that can move the ball on offense but have terrible performance in the red zone (inside the 20-yard line), therefore more frequently needing to settle for field goals.

Chipping in some of those easy 3-pointers could be a sneaky way to extract maximum value from lesser desired kickers.

Take No. 1 PK Brandon Aubrey: The Cowboys' weak run game, notably in the red zone, sets him up for plenty of field goals, and the absence of quarterback Dak Prescott let Aubrey carry the load most weeks.

Even with Prescott back, Aubrey could still see plenty of chip shots with Dallas' backfield still weak.

Don't draft a kicker if you don't have to

There's also the (recommended) option of ignoring the position entirely in the draft if you have the chance.

If you can pick up a place kicker before the season starts, draft an extra player at a more important position -- specifically if it's a possible upside chase.

Then, if the player's avenue to value doesn't pay off, grab a kicker before your first matchup. At least you didn't pass on a possible upgrade elsewhere just to fill out your lineup leaving the draft.

On the other hand, if you need to draft a kicker, check out how we ranked the top 30.

These fantasy football PK rankings are based on the following league scoring settings:

  • Field goal made from 0-39 yards: 3 points
  • Field goal made from 40-49 yards: 4 points
  • Field goal made from 50+ yards: 5 points
  • Point-after attempt (PAT) made: 1 point
