Having survived the Week 8 "byemageddon," fantasy football managers get no breaks from losing star players to a vacation week.

This means we must keep analyzing which typically reliable or up-and-coming names they'll need to rely on could be in position to disappoint during Week 9.

Keep reading to see our staff picks for Week 9 fantasy busts and overvalued players.

QB fantasy bust picks this week

Jaxson Dart, Giants vs. 49ers

Robert Saleh's defense will go after Dart hard in the former's return to New York with his defense ready to make amends for an off game in Houston. Dart no longer has the same running game support and San Francisco should build a nice lead here so it can tee off on Dart in the second half, not worried too much about his receivers. - Vinnie Iyer

C.J. Stroud, Texans vs. Broncos

Houston looked like a different team in Week 8, suddenly moving the ball with ease despite the absence of Nico Collins (concussion). The Texans will be jettisoned back to reality in Week 9, when Denver's stifling defense comes to town and smacks Stroud around. Dak Prescott scored 6.6 fantasy points against Denver last week — don't start Stroud if you don't like pain. - Sloan Piva

Bo Nix, Broncos at Texans

While Nix has been good the last two weeks for fantasy football, his overall performance hasn't been the greatest. The game script in Week 7 demanded he throw a ton after he was awful in the first half. Then he played Dallas, and when you play Dallas, you have a good fantasy outing. In Week 9, Nix faces the Houston Texans, who allow the least FPPG to QBs in the entire NFL. - Griffin Missant

RB fantasy bust picks this week

Jordan Mason, Vikings at Lions

Mason was a good and reliable RB while Aaron Jones was on IR. Now that Jones is back, you'll have to pick and choose your matchups a little more carefully with Mason. Week 9 is not a good matchup against the Detroit Lions, who allow the fourth-least FPPG to RBs. - Griffin Missant

Jaylen Warren, Steelers vs. Colts

Warren's limitations as a decent volume runner have shown up and the Colts are tough against the run and also cover backs well. The Steelers have capped upside with him as the workhorse and he won't come close to answering Jonathan Taylor's big game on the same field. - Vinnie Iyer

Rico Dowdle, Panthers at Packers

Dowdle's two-week breakout was fun, but he's simply impossible to trust now that Chuba Hubbard is back, and the Panthers face a dominant defense like Green Bay. The Packers have allowed the fifth-fewest PPR points to RBs, and Chuba has out-touched Dowdle in each of the past two weeks he's been back in the lineup. Don't cry because it's over -- smile because Rico Dowdle happened. - Sloan Piva

WR fantasy bust picks this week

Quentin Johnston, Chargers at Titans

Remember earlier this season when we all started to think Quentin Johnston was a league-winner this year? Yeah, I remember. Those days are gone, as the veteran wideout has scored just 17.9 PPR points over LA's past four games. The Chargers also won't need QJ to beat the abysmal Titans — between their awful rookie QB, their inept offensive line and their deplorable run defense, they'll beat themselves more than any Bolts pass-catcher. - Sloan Piva

Matthew Golden, Packers vs Panthers

When Jayden Reed went down with an injury, it was Golden's chance to step into a huge role. Well, that role went to Tucker Kraft and Romeo Doubs. Golden is unplayable in fantasy at this point, and the matchup in Week 9 is not great either with the tough Carolina cornerbacks. - Griffin Missant

Khalil Shakir, Bills at Chiefs

This sets up as a high-scoring game, but the Bills need to do it more with the legs of Josh Allen and James Cook vs. Forcing the action against a tough Chiefs' secondary, which means Dalton Kincaid should be a primary target on top of Cook coming out of the backfield. Trent McDuffie & Co. Can contain Shakir and cool him off well from the Panthers game. - Vinnie Iyer

TE fantasy bust picks this week

Travis Kelce, Chiefs vs. Bills

With all their wide receivers back in full force and Patrick Mahomes spreading the ball around, he no longer needs to force the ball to Kelce often in a bad matchup. The Bills have been nasty in tight end coverage all season long. - Vinnie Iyer

Dalton Kincaid, Bills vs. Chiefs

The Chiefs have surrendered the third-fewest PPR points to the tight end position this season, so you might want to pursue better options than Kincaid this week. He's not exactly a lineup lock to begin with, as he only put up 3.3 points against Carolina, and he was dealing with an oblique injury before that. Give him the week off. - Sloan Piva

Theo Johnson, Giants at Eagles

Johnson is coming off a fantastic fantasy outing in Week 7. However, this week brings a tough matchup. The Eagles allow the fewest FPPG to the TE position. The last time Johnson faced the Eagles, he caught just two balls. - Griffin Missant

D/ST fantasy bust picks this week

Washington Commanders vs. Seahawks

The Commanders allowed 69 combined points in Weeks 6 and 7. In Week 9, they'll face off against a Seahawks offense that has been starting to explode. There are many better options available that you should target instead. - Griffin Missant

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Colts

Don't keep playing them for the name. They were terrible against the Bengals and Packers and the Colts are a horrendous matchup for T.J. Watt and company to get the job done with sacks and turnovers from pressure. - Vinnie Iyer

Houston Texans vs. Broncos

The Broncos have scored 77 points over the past two weeks, and they probably won't slow down in Houston this weekend. Sure, the Texans looked strong vs. The 49ers in Week 8, but let's not forget how the Seahawks made them look one week prior. Bo Nix, Courtland Sutton, RJ Harvey and company should feel right at home in the NRG Dome. - Sloan Piva
