Who is the best fantasy football WR 2025? Ja'Marr Chase, CeeDee Lamb lead top draft tier image

The WR position is the favorite child when it comes to fantasy football. Even in non-PPR, standard leagues, the top pick is a WR.

With this new surge of taking WRs early and often, managers want to know who the best option at the position is in 2025.

Will Ja'Marr Chase repeat his triple crown season, which no receiver has ever done before?

Or, will we have a WR who has finished at the top of the position in fantasy before? This would of course include Justin Jefferson and CeeDee Lamb.

Could we have a brand new top finisher at the WR position? Maybe Malik Nabers will add another LSU Tiger to this elite status?

Keep reading to answer this important fantasy draft question.

Who's the best fantasy WR in 2025?

Ja'Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals

Look, no one needs advice on Ja'Marr Chase going into 2025. Chase became the fifth WR in NFL history to win the triple crown last season.

This means Chase led the NFL in receptions, receiving touchdowns, and receiving yards. Just for good measure, Chase also led the NFL in total targets, red zone targets, and yards after the catch.

While you shouldn't expect the same season, the WR1 can repeat as such the following year. We've seen it with Antonio Brown in PPR leagues...twice. In 2014 and 2015, as well as in 2016 and 2017.

A lot of people like to say "nothing has changed for the Bengals." This is not only false, but every NFL season brings new challenges, and everything does not happen the way it did in the previous season.

By no means is this telling you not to draft Chase at the 1.01, but you can not just chalk him in as the WR1.

PPR RANKINGS: Top 300 Cheat Sheet | QB | RB | WR | TE | DST | PK

CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys

In PPR leagues, CeeDee Lamb's value is off the charts. It's confusing how managers seem to forget how close Lamb's 2023 season was to Chase's 2024 season.

Lamb averaged 23.7 points per game in PPR in 2023; Chase averaged the exact same number in 2024. Lamb had more receptions and yards in 2023 than Chase did in 2024. Chase had 17 TDs in 2024 and Lamb fell short of that with 14 TDs.

As you can clearly see, the two were on the same level in their respective WR1 seasons. 2024 was rough for Lamb with his QB Dak Prescott, but he was still the WR5.

Lamb feels like he's being disrespected in 2025 drafts. If Prescott stays healthy, Lamb will finish as the WR ... well, let's wait for that.

2025 DRAFT SLEEPERS: QB | RB | WR | TE | DST | Deep Sleepers | 1 From Each Team

Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings

No one questions the talent of Jefferson as an NFL wide receiver. Fantasy aside, he's probably the best receiver in the league, but that's not why you are reading this.

There are a lot of questions going into 2025 for Jefferson and his fantasy outlook. Before discussing the QB situation, is Jefferson going to be ready for Week 1?

We got good news as of August 18: Jefferson has returned to practice after missing an extended period of time with a hamstring injury.

Then you have the wildcard that is J.J. McCarthy at QB for the Vikings. Because Sam Darnold was able to run this offense well and support Jefferson as a WR2 in fantasy, I have little concern for McCarthy.

It still remains that Jefferson does not feel like a comfortable pick in the first round of drafts. You can't win your league in the first round, but if you don't hit, you can certainly lose your league.

Malik Nabers, New York Giants

It's hard to forget how good Nabers was in his rookie season. Nabers finished as the WR7 last year with the combined QB play of Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, and Tommy DeVito.

No matter who starts this year between Russell Wilson, Jaxson Dart, or Jameis Winston, they’re all better options than last year's QB situation.

Many worry about the tough schedule, but the flip side is that the game scripts will always be there for Nabers to get a ton of receiving work.

The best part is he falls to the end of the first, early second if you're lucky, because of his current injury. However, several reports indicate that him resting was always part of the plan.

No one should be shocked if he finishes as the overall WR1; that’s how talented the second-year WR out of LSU is.

The decision: Who is the No. 1 WR for fantasy in 2025?

As much as I would like to put Lamb here, it's Ja'Marr Chase -- and only him. If you have the first overall pick in any league with any scoring format, taking Chase is the best decision.

It is not as clear as people make it seem; there is more than enough of a chance that Chase does not finish as the WR1. But the floor is incredibly high for this player. At worst, he's the WR3, and that's if things go wrong.

Lamb should be going ahead of Jefferson because of the questions that come with Jefferson, that is one thing you should take note of.
