PDC darts superstars - Jermaine Wattimena career highlights, key facts and top stats to know image

PDC

Jermaine Wattimena has never done things quietly. From the very first dart he threw on a competitive stage, the Dutchman made it clear he was here to rattle cages, empty treble beds at speed and leave opponents wondering what on earth had just happened.

  • Name: Jermaine Wattimena
  • Nationality: Dutch
  • Date of Birth: 9.3.1988
  • Nickname: Machine Gun
  • Darts Used: 22g Bulls Signature
  • Walk-On Song: Bella Ciao – Hardwell and Maddix
  • Laterality: Right-handed
  • PDC Ranking (start of 2026): 18th
  • PDC Titles Won: 2

Born in Westervoort in 1988, Wattimena burst into the darts world by winning the Malta Open in 2008 – the first tournament he ever entered. Most players ease themselves in gently. Wattimena kicked the door off its hinges. That set the tone for a career built on fearless scoring, raw intensity and a refusal to back down from anyone.

His PDC World Championship debut came in 2014, followed by securing a Tour Card in 2015, and from there he became a familiar – and uncomfortable – presence on the ProTour. Wattimena quickly earned a reputation as one of the fastest throwers in the game, firing darts like a man late for the last train home. Blink and you miss a 180. Blink twice and the leg is gone.

Televised stages soon followed. Quarter finals at the World Grand Prix, deep runs at the Players Championship Finals and a semi-final appearance at the World Cup of Darts with the Netherlands showed he was more than just speed.

The real statement moment arrived when Wattimena reached his first major televised final at the 2024 European Championship, a long overdue reward for years of knocking on the door. Then came the breakthrough wins on the ProTour last season, claiming two ranking titles and finally turning promise into reward.

Nicknamed The Machine Gun on account of his relentless speed of throw, Wattimena remains one of the circuit’s most awkward opponents. When he finds rhythm, he overwhelms. When he smells blood, he empties clips. And on his day, there are very few players who can live with the sheer speed and intensity he brings to the oche.
