The 2026 Grammy nominations were announced Friday morning (Nov. 7), and Taylor Swift was not listed as a nominee.

Kendrick Lamar, Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga, Leon Thomas, and Serban Ghenea have all been nominated under several categories.

Why was Taylor Swift not nominated?

The aforementioned artists were nominated because they released records between August 2024 to August 2025. Swift was not eligible to be nominated since her latest album, 'The Life of a Showgirl,' was released in October 2025, making it ineligible for a nomination. However, for the 2027 Grammys, she will be eligible for a nomination.

Kendrick leads the nominations with nine. His latest release, GNX, is nominated for Album of the Year and Best Rap Album. The rapper is also nominated for Song of the Year and Record of the Year for  "Luther" ft. SZA. He also earned nominations for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance ("30 For 30" with SZA), Best Rap Performance ("TV Off" featuring Lefty Gunplay), Best Melodic Rap Performance ("Luther" with SZA), and Best Rap Song ("TV Off" featuring Lefty Gunplay).

Behind Kendrick is Lady Gaga, who is nominated for seven awards; Sabrina Carpenter, Leon Thomas, Serban Ghenea, and Bad Bunny are all nominated for six awards.

Last year, Swift was nominated for:

  • Album of the Year: The Tortured Poets Department
  • Record of the Year: "Fortnight" (feat. Post Malone)
  • Song of the Year: "Fortnight" (feat. Post Malone)
  • Best Music Video: "Fortnight" (feat. Post Malone)
  • Best Pop Vocal Album: The Tortured Poets Department
  • Best Pop Duo/Group Performance: "us." (With Gracie Abrams)

During the 2025 Grammys, Swift went home empty-handed despite being nominated for six awards. Still, she has 14 Grammys in her career, and she is the first and only artist to win Album of the Year four times. Her albums that won were: Midnights (2024), Folklore (2021), 1989 (2016), and Fearless (2010).

The 2026 Grammys will be held on Feb. 1, 2026, in Los Angeles.
