Taylor Swift is speaking out amid mixed reviews of her new album.

Swift released The Life of a Showgirl on Oct. 3, and while many fans have already voiced their favorite songs on the album -- including her fiancé Travis Kelce -- others have noted that the album doesn't live up to the name and that it lacks maturity thematically.

The 14-time Grammy winner, however, is open to all interpretations and reviews of her latest album and is not disappointed in the criticism.

“The rule of show business is, if it’s the first week of my album release and you are saying either my name or my album title, you’re helping,” Swift shared during her appearance on The Zane Lowe Show.

“I have a lot of respect for people’s subjective opinions on art. I’m not the art police,” Swift continued. “It’s, like, everybody is allowed to feel exactly how they want. And what our goal is as entertainers is to be a mirror.”

On this album, Swift worked with producers Max Martin and Shellback. She previously shared on Kelce's New Heights podcast that she wrote the album while on her record-breaking Eras Tour.

How much did Taylor Swift's album sell first week?

Despite a mixed perception of the album, Swift's album knocked it out of the park sales-wise. The Life of a Showgirl achieved over 3.4  million equivalent album units (physical and digital purchases), breaking the modern-era single-week record. It was previously held by Adele's 25, which had 3.378 million copies sold in its first week in November 2015, according to Billboard.

While there is a lot of noise made about the alum online, Swift is looking at the bigger picture -- cementing her legacy.

“We’re doing this thing for keeps,” she said. “I have such an eye on legacy when I’m making my music. I know what I made. I know I adore it, and I know that on the theme of what the Showgirl is – all of this is part of it.”
