Ryder Cup fans complain over eye-watering prices at merch store image

Ryder Cup fans who paid high dollar to attend the iconic match in Long Island were shocked to find out how high the prices were at the Bethpage Black merch store.

It's not unreasonable to want to bring home a piece of memorabilia after shelling out for tickets to see Team USA and Europe go head-to-head in golf's most coveted clash. However, it is unreasonable to expect to pay over $400 for a jacket or $45 for a caddy towel, several fans complained.

Some of the merch items up for grabs include a $415 Team USA rain jacket, $305 Ralph Lauren men's knit top, and $615 bomber jacket. There's also $120 wine decanters, $76 chopping boards, and $45 retro caddy towels.

Fans blast Ryder Cup merch and beer prices at Bethpage Black

Fans are now roasting the prices on social media, with one fan commenting on X, "I'm over these prices."

"65 dollars for a T shirt....," another fan complained while a third person quipped, "Not buying that."

"So, the Ryder Cup merch tent is pretty awesome (and obviously massive). But there's also some (IMO) insanely overpriced items. My favorite: $408 for this cashmere hoodie from official U.S. team outfitter Ralph Lauren," someone else added.

On a high note, attendees will be treated to free food and drinks this year. While some people seemed to appreciate the free meal benefit, others complained that alcohol, which isn't included, is also overpriced.

"I mean, who can afford to get completely blasted at these prices? The fans had to pay $750 for a ticket and now $15.00 for a beer. Truly the people’s Ryder Cup. The important thing is that the players got a $200,000 bonus and some execs will get a bonus for the event profits," one fan said.

"Maybe the Ryder Cup officials should develop some class and follow the example of Augusta and The Masters," another said.

"Price gouging," someone else wrote.

"I wouldn't go after seeing this," a fourth complained.

Bethpage Black offers hundreds of merch items to choose from. The superstore, which is bigger than most grocery stores, features a Ralph Lauren exclusive boutique near the 16th fairway. Attendees have approximately 74,000 square feet to browse in the shop, and will be treated to live music via a DJ while they peruse the store.
