Tommy DeVito is heading to the New England Patriots after the New York Giants waived him, but fans are dying to know what he is going to do without his mom's homecooking.

The Giants' rookie earned the name "Tommy Cutlets" after raving about his mother's home cooking. However, he won't have to worry about missing his mother's cooking because it's going to be sent right to him.

"There'll be frozen cutlets filling up the freezer, she'll make sure he has all her homemade sauces and all that other good stuff as well," DeVito's agent Sean Stellato tells PEOPLE.

Stellato went on to share how close DeVito is to his parents. He lived at home during his rookie season in the NFL due to his relationship with his family and the close proximity to where the Giants practice in New Jersey. DeVito's agent shares that they will have to ease into not being that close to one another, but is confident it won't be hard.

"They're at every practice," he continued. "So it's going to be a little transitional, but that four and a half hour ride is fully drivable, especially for his dad. He's got energy level for days, and it's not too far."

Stellato adds, "Your firstborn leaving the nest... It'll be a little transitional, but I know they'll make things work — and they're a big FaceTime family, which is pretty cool."

Tommy DeVito is ready for the next step

DeVito was an undrafted free agent and had a great rookie season with the Giants as he led the team to three consecutive wins. The former Giants rookie became a starter when Daniel Jones suffered a season-ending ACL injury. However, he was waived by the Giants on Tuesday (Aug. 26).

"You're looking at about 26 hours since he was cut by the New York Giants and claimed by the New England Patriots," Stellato told the outlet.

Stellato is very confident in what the future holds for DeVito as a Patriot.

"Tommy being such a fierce competitor and obviously loving his hometown team, I mean that definitely was disappointing," he shares, adding, "He obviously loved the opportunity to play for his favorite team."

"Now he's ready to make the transition," Stellato added. "He's looking forward to the opportunity and challenges in front of him to now be a member of the New England Patriots."
