Nebraska tight end Luke Lindenmeyer proposes to cheerleader gf after first career TD image

A Nebraska football player gave his girlfriend the surprise of her lifetime after scoring his first career touchdown in Lincoln over the weekend.

Seconds carrying the ball into the end zone for the Cornhuskers during a blowout college football game against Akron, tight end Luke Lindenmeyer dramatically proposed to his college sweetheart, Kailyn Storovich, while standing on the field in front of thousands of onlookers.

Luckily, he didn't have to look too hard to find Storovich, as she's a college cheerleader and was already standing on the sidelines celebrating his big play.

Lindenmeyer didn't make the decision to propose on a whim. The football staff had a heads up that he was planning to do it, and the team's social media department was on hand to document the entire thing.

In a video shared to the team's official Instagram account, Lindenmeyer is heard telling Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule, "I'm so nervous."

"You'll do a great job," Rhule replied.

After the tight end got an excited yes from his girlfriend, his teammates and cheerleaders could be heard yelling wildly in applause.

Coach Rhule addressed the special moment after the game telling reporters, "Luke Lindenmeyer at the very end proposed to his girlfriend, I'm so embarrassed, I don't know her name, but she's a lovely young lady and she's a Scarlet and he proposed and she said yes."

"I'm excited for him," Rhule added.

Quarterback Dylan Raiola also commented on the exciting moment, telling reporters, "First congratulations to Luke Lindenmeyer, my man is going to be a husband and a father hopefully one day. That was cool, I've never seen that before. That was a touching moment for sure."

While he's clearly happy for his teammate, Raiola has endured some lighthearted roasting over his teammates proposal, as it's yet another comparison to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Raiola has been dubbed "Baby Mahomes" and is frequently compared to the Chiefs QB1 due to their similar look and pre-game traditions. Fans on social media are now comparing the two quarterbacks for their tight ends drawing media attention after getting engaged. Mahomes' tight end Travis Kelce recently popped the question to girlfriend and singer Taylor Swift several weeks ago.

"Can’t believe Raiola let his tight end propose to his girlfriend JUST LIKE MAHOMES," one fan commented on X

"Mahomes is always trying to copy Dylan. First the hair. Now their tight end," another person wrote.

After she said "Yes," Lindenmeyer's newly minted fiancee shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, writing, "We prayed. He provided. Forever starts here. Thank you Jesus! ❤️💍🥹."

Luke Lindenmeyer and Kailyn Storovich's relationship timeline

Lindenmeyer and Storovich met last year while attending Nebraska together.

"The field, that's where I first saw her, that's when I first saw her face. And then got to meet her at church and just getting to know her I fell in love with her," Lindenmeyer told reporters after he proposed.

While some of the staff knew about his secret plans, most of his teammates were in the dark, he said.

"I didn't really tell the whole team, I just told a couple of guys, And then Coach [Matt] Rhule said something about it yesterday and the whole team they were just standing there. It was just awesome. Her family was there too. It was great," he added.

On Saturday, the tight end caught three passes for 44 years and had his first college touchdown.
