Nebraska Football is in hot water after they photoshopped Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's engagement photo.

Swift and Kelce, who have been dating for two years, announced their engagement last week in a joint Instagram post.

"Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married," the post read.

In one of the photos, there is a mid-range shot of Swift cradling Kelce's face as she smiles. What caused outrage online was when the Nebraska Football social media account photoshopped that photo to replace Kelce as the Cornhuskers' mascot.

Swifities did not take too kindly of the photo and called it "disgusting." However, following the backlash, Nebraska Football archived the photo.

“The ill-advised post on the @Huskers X account last night resulted in very strong responses and comments that took the attention away from the game and our football team," a spokesperson for the university's athletic department told PEOPLE. "We made the decision to remove the post and focus on our season opening victory in a great environment."

Interestingly enough, Kelce and Swift were in attendance for the game so seemingly there is not any bad blood on their end.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's engagement breaks Instagram

According to the Kelce's father, Ed Kelce, the couple got engaged at least a week before they shared the Instagram post.

"Travis actually did the proposal, oh, maybe two weeks, not quite two weeks ago," Ed Kelce told News5 Cleveland. "He was going to put it off till this week. I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off till this week, to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event. And I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event ... when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you."

Ed shared a few more details into the proposal, which featured a romantic dinner.

"He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, 'let's go out and have a glass of wine,' ... they got out there, and that's when he asked her, and it was beautiful," Ed Kelce continued. "They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great."

The world was in shock when the news broke that Kelce and Swift would be tying the knot. They broke the record for the most-liked photo with  14 million likes in the first hour and 2M reposts in less than 24 hours.
