It was straight back to dad duty for Matthew Stafford after the Los Angeles Rams were defeated 27-31 by the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship on Sunday night.
With his hopes of a Super Bowl berth now shattered, the Los Angeles Rams quarterback retreated home to his wife, Kelly Stafford, and his four daughters after the heartbreaking loss.
Kelly captured the touching moment with Matthew after he returned from the game in a raw post shared to her Instagram Stories on Monday afternoon.
"After leaving everything out on that field and coming up short, at 2:30 am, this was Matthew," Kelly captioned the post.
In the short clip, the NFL quarterback is seen walking into a bedroom with two full-sized beds and gently kissing two of his daughters as they slept. He then walked into a second bedroom, where his other two daughters slept in side-by-side bunk beds, and kissed each of the girls goodnight before quietly leaving the room.
Matthew and his wife, Kelly, didn't forget to acknowledge the sacrifice their girls - twins Chandler and Sawyer, 8, Hunter, 7, and Tyler, 5 - made by having a father travel on the road all year while playing for the NFL.
The day after the game, Matthew treated his girls to donuts, writing on the box lid with a sharpie, "Thank you for being such ROCKSTARS for me all season long! Ya'll were the inspiration for daddy's incredible year. We love you!!"
Kelly shared a photo of the sweet treat on her Instagram Stories, adding, "Donuts for the most supportive and resilient little girls.
The Stafford girls cheer on Matthew and the Rams
Earlier in the day, Matthew's wife and four daughters took their traditional sideline walk on the field to offer the Rams quarterback good luck hugs and kisses before kick off.
Kelly, known for dressing the Stafford girls in adorable matching looks at both home and away games, didn't disappoint at the AFC Championship.
While the NFL WAG dressed in a trendy black-and-white collared look paired with stylish matching shorts, the little girls rocked adorable brown-and-white plaid coats covered in supportive messages like "I (heart) LA," "Stafford," and giant football patches in the shape of a heart. The outfits were accessorized with brown boots and blue and yellow oversized ear muffs, a perfect accessory for the blustery cold weather.
