Kayla Nicole explains the origin of her viral Halloween costume after fans are convinced she shaded her ex-boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

The fitness influencer and the Kansas City Chiefs star dated on and off between 2017 and 2022. He is now engaged to Taylor Swift, whom he began dating in 2023.

Kayla Nicole addressed the origin of her costume on the Nov. 3 episode The Pre-Game With Kayla Nicole podcast. Her costume was an early 2000s take on Toni Braxton's "Man Enough" music video.

“I had a white best friend. Her name was Taylor,” Kayla Nicole said.  “And she [was] the only house I could go over to as a kid because my mom didn’t play them type of games.”

"Her mom was playing this song, playing at the top of her lungs," Kayla explained. "It was just like an ah-hah moment that, 'Wow, white people listen to Black people music as well.'"

During the video Kayla Nicole posted last week, she wore a chain-metal mini dress on top of a silver bikini.

"Did you know about us back then? / Do you know I dumped your husband, girlfriend?" She lip-synched in the clip on social media. "I'm not thinking 'bout him / But you married him / Do you know I made him leave? / Do you know he begged to stay with me? / He wasn't man enough for me."

Fans praised Kayla Nicole's costume as well as her song choice.

""HE WASNT MAN ENOUGHT FOR ME! Yes…. Because wtf did they think! Bam shhhhhhiiiiiiiddddd betta ask about her!" One comment read.

"The shade is real," a fan commented.

Braxton herself even approved of Kayla Nicole's costume, "You killed it mama!"

Kayla Nicole's costume follows the alleged shade that Swift sang in her song "Opalite," which seemingly referenced a past disagreement between the influencer and Chiefs star.
