After several comments about Jordon Hudson being a "gold digger" amid her relationship with Bill Belichick, the former college cheerleader is taking a stance and has since filed a trademark.
The trademark was filed by TCE Rights Management LLC on Aug. 25, according to documents obtained by TMZ. According to trademark attorney Josh Gerben, Hudson is looking to sell jewelry and trinkets with the trademark.
When have other celebrities trademarked items due to backlash and legal moves?
With Hudson filing for a gold digger trademark, it looks like it was ripped out of a page from Taylor Swift and Angel Reese's books on business.
How the move embodies Taylor Swift
To start, several of the trademarks that the company has already filed are a copy and paste of how Swift challenged her years-long masters dispute over the rights to her first six albums. While fans still await the "Taylor's Versions" of her self-titled and Reputation albums, the singer re-recorded the other four albums: Fearless (Taylor's Version), 1989 (Taylor's Version), Red (Taylor's Version), and Speak Now (Taylor's Version). Swift would go on to obtain her masters for the first six albums, but her move changed the game in how artists negotiate recording contracts.
All-Belichick Team, Chapel Bill, The Belichick Way, and Dynasty (Bill's Version) are some of the names that the company has filed, according to the outlet. It's unclear what Belichick will use his trademarks for at this time, but 98.5 Sports Hub reports that the couple has filed for 17 trademarks.
How the move embodies Angel Reese
As for Angel Reese, Hudson's move is a play that the Chicago Sky star did earlier this year when she trademarked "mebounds" after fans would make fun of her playing. Reese made merch with the phrase and the WNBA now uses it for merch as well. Hudson is taking what many fans have said about her intentions with her relationship with the eight-time Super Bowl-winning coach.
Reese and Swift's moves are definitely an inspiration on finding a way to capitalize off of some criticism and years-long legal disputes.
