Jordan Chiles shared an emotional tribute earlier this week marking the one-year anniversary of her winning a bronze medal during the 2024 Paris Olympics. Chiles, Simone Biles, and Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade made history as the first all-black podium in gymnastics history. What would be a moment of joy for Chiles ended in heartache when the Court of Arbitration of Sport stripped her of her bronze medal due to a discrepancy in scoring.

"A year ago today I walked off the floor in Paris with a bronze medal-and lessons I’ll carry with me for life. The hardest moments really do teach you the most. This year had its highs, but the lows hit different," she wrote in the caption of a photo of herself holding the bronze medal.

Chiles continued: "Every setback and every disappointment made me dig deeper and showed me what I’m truly made of. It also showed me who’s really in my corner. Even when something’s taken from you- your truth and your worth is...Untouchable."

Chiles went on to thank those who have been supporting her throughout the year.

"To everyone who held me down this past year, who sent prayers, messages, and love when I needed it most- you reminded me I’m never on this journey alone," she wrote. "I love y’all for real. You kept me standing when I didn’t even know how to take the next step."

She concluded her message, writing, "Still here. Still fighting. Still that girl."

Biles originally finished in fifth for the individual floor exercise final. When the score was challenged, Biles moved from fifth to third, which bumped the original bronze medal holder, Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu, to fourth and another Romanian gymnast, Sabrina Maneca-Voinea, to fifth. Chiles ended up being stripped of the bronze medal when the Romanian team argued that the U.S. women's gymnastics team challenged the score too late. After the CAS refused to look at the U.S. women's gymnastics team's evidence that it came in on time, Barbosu was reinstated as the bronze medalist.
