A good skincare routine is a lot of people's foundation for stress release and self-care. In an interview with People, shared what are some ways that he prioritizes self-care for himself.

"I'm a part of that conversation when we talk about all the wellness in the world, like mental wellness and spiritual wellness... We're in a time now where we're having these conversations a lot more," he told the outlet, adding, "It allows for us to be a little bit more confident."

The former NBA star explained that his skin care routine has changed dramatically since retiring from basketball. Wade retired from the NBA in 2019. Through the years of practice, road games, and astonishing accomplishments -- Wade won three NBA championships with the Miami Heat -- he admitted that he should have cared a little more in terms of self-care, something women have been doing for years.

"I always feel like this: Women, y'all had the playbook the whole time. We should have been on the same book that you guys have been on when it comes about taking care of yourself," he continued.

One of the reasons -- besides having a busy in-season schedule when he was in the NBA -- was that self-care was not seen as male-centered, unlike today, when men and women are enjoying improving their self-care.

"You always have to worry about and take care of yourself first," he stresses, noting that it hasn't always been that way historically for men, who'd think, 'Hey, I'm the man. I got to take care of everyone else'," he added.

"Sometimes, you'd forget yourself in that process," he continued. "I believe that now it's become an extension of who I am, and I feel that how I carry myself... So the conversation is allowed to be had a little bit more."

Wade revealed who has the best self-care routine between himself and his wife, Gabrielle Union.

"It would definitely be my wife," the former basketball player reveals. "100%. I'm not going to even come close to that."

In addition to skincare as self-care, he told the outlet that he also enjoys fragrance as one of the ways he cares for himself.

"It's been a world that I've tried to be in for a very long time... I've always prided myself on fragrance, how I smell and what I use to enhance even my own natural scent," the three-time NBA champion said who is now the face and ambassador of Intuition by Aramis.

"I feel like it brings out that little extra little swag in myself," he added.
